Every field sales manager has the same question and no reliable way to answer it: did the rep actually visit that customer? Call reports are written from memory at the end of the week, and they are optimistic. FieldTracking answers the question from data instead.
How it works
A lightweight tracker runs on the rep’s own phone. It records position while they are clocked in and stops when they clock out — this is a working-hours tool, not surveillance of someone’s evening. Location is sent every couple of minutes, so battery drain stays reasonable across a full day.
Automatic visit detection
This is the part that makes it useful rather than merely interesting. Customer locations are geocoded once. After that, when a rep comes within roughly 150 metres of a customer and stays there, the visit is logged automatically. Nobody presses a button. Nobody remembers wrong.
You get a visit history per customer and per rep that was never manually entered, which means it can be trusted.
Live map and replay
A live map shows where everyone is right now. For any past day you can replay the full route — useful when a customer claims nobody came, and equally useful when a rep says they were stuck in traffic in Kadawatha and they were.
Clock in and out
Route start and route end are tied to clock in and clock out, so you also get honest working-hours data as a by-product. No separate attendance app.
What people worry about
Staff resistance is the usual objection, and it is fair. Two things reduce it: tracking only runs during working hours, and the visit log defends good reps as much as it exposes weak ones. The rep who genuinely made fourteen calls now has proof.
Who it is for
Businesses with reps or drivers covering a route — distribution, pharmaceutical, FMCG, service call-outs. It is most valuable when you have enough field staff that you cannot personally know what each of them did.
How it installs
Installs through cPanel and runs from your own server, so location data stays with you rather than a third-party tracking service. Works standalone, and complements FleetDispatch for delivery vehicles and Sales & Return for field orders.
